In this week’s episode of Life Giving Broth…I present to you “Tang Tang” Noodles from none other than Shorty Tang over on 8th Avenue near 15th in Manhattan. What a freaking find! It was hovering around 31 degrees the other night. I needed to meet a friend in the city and still hadn’t had dinner. After a very brief search of restaurants in the area, I stumbled upon this gem.

The broth comes piping hot, so mind your tongue. The liquid itself is salty, a touch sour, a little spicy (it looks more fiery than it is), and comes with their chewy noodles, ground pork, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, and scallions. Beyond this impressive soup, I don’t think I have ever been so well received by restaurant staff. Phenomenal service. And a woman who I presume was the manager stopped by at the end of my meal to ask how I enjoyed things and encouraged me to come back to try all of her favorites free of charge. I will be returning for sure. Scallion Pancakes, Xiao Long Bao, Braised Beef Noodle Soup…I’m coming for you.
