A window into another world

As I’ve mentioned before, being “trapped” at home with my travel wings clipped has certainly done a number on my psyche. Travel blogs don’t cut it. In fact it’s depressing to read about all the places you can’t go and even more depressing when you read about just how horrifically some parts of the U.S. have handled the COVID-19 outbreak. So, every time I stumble on something, anything that alleviates the monotony and brings a wave of visceral travel joy, I must share it with you all.

I’m currently looking out of Simone’s window in Villongo, Italy. Birds are chirping. The village church bells just chimed. The sun is shining on the terra cotta roof tops and lush hillsides in the distance. I can hear someone rustling in the kitchen. This is pure heaven. …to at least be a momentary fly on the wall somewhere far, far away.

This is all part of the genius website, WindowSwap. Similar to the faux “live” driving website I shared last month (where you can swap between different international destinations and sit in the passenger seat), this site is a collection of videos pointed outward, allowing visitors to gaze out to new vistas. Tired of the view? In one click you can be off to Germany, Sweden, Scotland, India…the world is yours again. And if you care to share, you can submit the view from your neck of the woods, too. Enjoy!
