When you think of Paris, naturally thoughts of all kinds of yummy things come to mind. Not to be confused with a boulangerie (which is a shop that focuses mainly on selling breads), a french pâtisserie is helmed by a pastry chef and specializes in sweet, glorious treats. There are countless places throughout the city where one can get their éclair or palmier fix…but my all-time favorite spot to indulge is Stohrer.
Guess it makes sense that it’s my favorite. Stohrer also happens to be the oldest pastry shop in Paris. It’s been in business since 1730…so I guess they’ve had some practice over the years. Beyond selling hands down the best kouign amann (pronounced cou-een am-ahhn, more on that later) that I have ever tasted, Stohrer also sells amazing croissants, tartes, chocolates and more. Best of all, it’s located on the super-convenient, pedestrian street rue Montorgueil, which is flanked with specialty shops and restaurants—making it an ideal spot to grab all of your Parisian picnic needs in one go.
